The Challenge
Salted Studio is a whānau-owned hair salon on Derby Street in Gisborne that retails Keune professional haircare alongside their in-salon services.
The legacy WooCommerce site was slow, template-heavy, and treated the product catalogue and the salon brand as one generic experience. Clients booking services and customers buying Keune products in between appointments needed two different things, and the old site was failing both while throttling checkout conversion on mobile - the channel most of their repeat customers use.
Our Solution
We built a Next.
js 16 App Router frontend on Vercel that stays headlessly connected to a Cloudways-hosted WooCommerce admin, so the team keeps the WordPress workflows they know while clients get a modern, fast-loading storefront. Full TypeScript WooCommerce REST API client, Stripe Elements checkout with server-side PaymentIntent creation, a webhook handler for payment success and failure, cart and upsell logic with localStorage persistence, and ISR-cached product pages.
The salon brand and the e-commerce experience now reinforce each other rather than competing.
